Coldwell Banker Oregon Coast Realty began in 1977 when Eldon Gossett, owner and broker, purchased the Central Building in the heart of Brookings, Oregon. With the purchase, he also obtained the Brookings Land and Townsite Company, a company founded by Robert Brookings in St. Louis, Missouri in 1914. Robert Brookings is also the founder of the Brookings Institute in Washington, D.C.
From 1977 to 1980, Eldon worked day and night restoring the Central Building so it could be occupied and again be a credit and landmark in the community. In 1980, the National Registrar of Historic Buildings gave the building historic status. The building now offers the very best business exposure in downtown Brookings and has made an excellent office facility for our Real Estate business. In 1983, Eldon and Barbara Gossett opened a Real Estate office in the building under the name of Brookings Land and Townsite Company.
In 1985, the company joined with the Coldwell Banker Residential Affiliates Group. At that time, Coldwell Banker was owned by Sears, making our company a part of the Sears Financial Network. The franchise is now owned by the Cendant Group and offers worldwide exposure to our listings.
In 1986, the company was renamed Coldwell Banker Oregon Coast Realty. From the beginning, the company has been dedicated to excellence in Real Estate. Education is our biggest asset. Attendance at the Coldwell Banker Fast Start course and the Oregon Realtor Institute are required training programs for our sales staff.
Our staff includes 10 full-time sales brokers, an office manager, one secretary and a closing coordinator. Our brokers have had experience in all areas of real estate including residential, commercial, investment property, commercial development and raw land.
All Brokers are members of our local, state and National Association of Realtors and members of the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
